Daniel Georges

Daniel is a litigator and transactional lawyer practising in commercial, property and intellectual property law, and a registered Trade Mark Attorney.

Finn Roache Lawyers has nine offices: Sydney, Bankstown, Parramatta, Gosford, Wyong, Taree, Tuncurry, Bathurst and Tweed Heads. The Tweed Heads office includes five lawyers admitted in Queensland, allowing the firm to act for clients in South East Queensland as well as northern New South Wales. Daniel is based in Sydney.

Daniel has been Managing Principal of Finn Roache Lawyers since July 2017. He is responsible for the firm’s strategic direction and has grown it substantially by acquisition, bringing established practices and their lawyers into the firm rather than building from scratch. The firms that have joined are Wilshire Webb Staunton Beattie, Paul Crennan Legal, Birch Partners, Ford Law, Bradfield & Scott, Merrick Spicer & Associates, Barraclough Jones & Associates, Walker Legal and Conveyancing, Piper Craig Lawyers, Scully Legal, Michael Michell and Associates, Nazarian Lawyers, Legal Bit, Family Law Solutions, Robilliard and Robilliard Lawyers, and CBD Law and Coastal Compensation Law Specialists on the Central Coast.

That growth is deliberate. Each firm has brought lawyers with settled reputations in their own areas and communities. The firm’s practice groups are each headed by experienced practitioners and now cover commercial and business law, property, intellectual property, litigation, personal injury and compensation, family law, criminal law, estates and probate, building and construction, and local government and planning. The firm has accredited specialists in property law, family law, litigation, personal injury law, business law, and local government and planning law.

Daniel works across the firm’s practice groups. He takes carriage of complex matters alongside the group heads, supervises the firm’s legal work as principal, advises on the commercial and structural aspects of matters originating in other groups, and is the relationship principal for the firm’s major clients.

Admitted in 2006, Daniel practises in litigation, commercial transactions, intellectual property and franchising. He has acted in approximately 500 matters, appearing in the Supreme, District, Local and Federal Courts, NCAT and other New South Wales and Queensland tribunals, in matters ranging in value from the low hundreds of thousands to several million dollars. He works commercially: identifying the client’s objective at the outset and running the matter to meet it within an agreed budget.

On the transactional side, Daniel advises on business sales and acquisitions and on structuring assets for commercial exploitation through franchising and licensing models, with attention to protecting the underlying intellectual property, tax efficiency and eventual saleability. His recent work includes a $105 million business sale and $70 million in property transactions.
